About Dad

Our dad, Robert George Marzka, was born on May 18, 1954. He married Adrienne Roeback Marzka on May 6, 1983. Dad has seven of us kids- Emily, Megan, Kelley, Kyle, Lee, Tyler, and Kirsten. He also has one son-in-law, Brett (Emily's husband), and three granddaughters, Lucy, June, and Ava.

Dad spent his life on the family dairy farm, working innumerable hours to support his family. However, he still had time to serve the community as a township supervisor, volunteer firefighter/emt, and all-around helpful guy. Additionally, he was a fixture at Cambridge Springs High School sporting events, cheering on not only his own children, but, after they graduated, their old teams.

Dad had a soft spot for animals, from his dairy cows to kittens and puppies. He knew every animal by name and treated each one like an individual person.

When he could find the time, Dad loved watching sports on tv, in particular golf in the springtime (he always wanted to stand at Amen Corner in Augusta), and the Steelers in the fall. TV time was always accompanied by a bag of potato chips, a tub of french-onion dip, and a Pepsi.

Dad was taken from us suddenly on May 22, 2009. Thousands of people turned out to support the family, an indication of Dad's impact on the community. Dad rests today in a special spot on the family farm, in full view of the acres he tirelessly worked.
